Attendance and Safety

Absences

It is our philosophy that significant learning for all scholars is provided each time class is held in Weld County School District 6. This educational opportunity is provided as a result of in-class participation and high-quality instruction. The benefits of this experience cannot be fully replaced. Consequently, regular and punctual attendance is an important criterion for success in school and absences are detrimental to effective learning. It is imperative that the phone numbers we have on record are up to date. In the event of an emergency, we need to be able to contact you quickly.

Parents are encouraged to notify the school for scholar absences, but the absence will be “excused” by the school according to the above guidelines. When a scholar has reached four unexcused absences from school in any month or ten unexcused absences during any school year, the school shall either require a meeting or other form of communication between the scholar’s parent guardian and appropriate school personnel to review and evaluate the reasons for the scholar being habitually absent from school. A plan may be developed for the scholar with the goal of assisting the scholar to remain in school. When practical, the scholar’s parent/guardian may participate with school personnel in the development of the plan.

Any pre-arranged absences must be pre-approved by the school administrator. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please call (970) 348-3800.
